Recap: Google Require GTIN numbers in Shopping feeds, Bing Ads Keyword Planner and a Touch Down Doodle

It’s time for our weekly recap. Last week we heard about new Google Shopping Product Feed requirements, a new Bing Ads Keyword Planner and a new Google Doodle.

Google Google Shopping Product Feed Specification Changes Set to Take Effect

Google recently announced a change to the Google Shopping Product Feed specification. Here’s what they said:

“Starting September 15, we’ll require Google Shopping feeds targeting Australia, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States to submit valid ‘gtin’ and ‘brand’ for all products when the ‘brand’ is a designated brand and the ‘condition’ is ‘new’. At that time, we’ll disapprove offers that do not meet this requirement or are submitted with invalid GTINs.”

It’s vital that advertisers make the necessary changes to avoid suspensions which can last weeks.

Bing Ads Release New Keyword Planner

On Wednesday Bing announced the release of their new keyword planner. The new tool will help advertisers to find new keyword ideas and forecast how much traffic they are likely to receive.

So why use Bing Ads Keyword Planner? Bing say “Keyword Planner is a helping hand when it comes to meeting your most important keyword needs: exploring new ideas, targeting and filtering, finding the profitable bid and budget and much more”.

Google Doodle Celebrates Return of American Football

On Thursday the Google doodle marked the return of pro football, celebrating the first day of this year’s NFL season. The animated Doodle depicts the letters of the famous logo taking to a football field.

The first game of the 96th season for the NFL saw the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on returning Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots. The Patriots won 28 to 21.
